Motion Identity

On June 11, 2022, the largest art museum in the Nordic countries opened its doors in Oslo. This vibrant new space is a hub for fresh ideas, inspiration, and enriching cultural experiences, showcasing an extensive collection spanning historical, modern, and contemporary art, architecture, and design.With expansive exhibition areas, the museum can now present more of its collection than ever before, along with a dynamic schedule of temporary exhibitions featuring both Norwegian and international artists. Øyedrops was tasked to bring the museum’s visual identity to life.

Working closely with the museum team we crafted a unique blend of 3D idents, motion identity and sound design to give Oslo’s National Museum a fresh and modern presence. Experience how motion transforms brand identity into something bold and memorable.

The transformation of paint, textiles, ceramics, digital media, charcoal, graphic prints, glass and more. Our unique identity system highlights these diverse materials and processes, revealing the artistry and craftsmanship behind every work. Each ident aligns with the museum's iconic pattern, derived from the new logo - to create a cohesive connection across every layer of the museum's identity.

Inspired by the vast collection of over 50,000 pieces at the National Museum, we developed a dynamic motion system that emulates the experience of scrolling through an extensive art archive or exploring a museum's exhibitions.

The motion identity system draws inspiration from the collection scrolling concept, designed to reflect the grandeur of the museum. It establishes a seamless, consistent rhythm that flows across logos, transitions, containers, and other brand elements.
